Graduate Student (PhD)
Biology Graduate Program

Joy Love is a PhD student in the Biology Department and is also working toward a Doctoral Minor in Bioinformatics and Genomics. Currently, she is interested in using bioinformatic and modeling tools to understand evolutionary phenomena like balancing selection, ROH, and admixture in various populations. She finished an NIH post-baccalaureate fellowship at Colorado State University in May 2024 and received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 2023. She has a research background in bioinformatic metagenomic analysis of gut microbiomes and building bioinformatic infrastructure to detect chromosomal anomalies.
